White Sleeveless Trench | Style Guide

Hudson Denim, a white sleeveless trench and Charlotte Olympia Pumps | Style Guide | Fall Fashion

I’m having such a hard time wrapping my mind around how quickly 2016 is passing. We’re already halfway through September but realistically, I need another six months to complete the plans I made for this year. I’ve never been one to abide by the “no white after Labor Day” rule and luckily for us here in Houston, I have at least a good month before I’ll have to put up my summer wardrobe. Fall will be here soon so I’ll be slowly transitioning some of my summer pieces to accommodate the cooler weather… if it ever gets there.

My favorite part of colder temperatures is the fact that I get to dress with a jacket, which ultimately makes your outfit. It’s the reason why I’ll force one before it’s dropped below 70. I received this white sleeveless trench from Tavie Mavie Boutique and the quality is amazing. I love it’s knee length and it’s crisp white stature. It’s heavy enough to keep you warm so it’ll definitely be in rotation throughout the next couple of months. I’ve been seeing sleeveless vests worn over dresses and with patterned pants so it will pay to have one in your closet.

This pair of Hudson denim is so good and I found them for under $100 here and here. They’re the type of jean that never needs alterations, fits perfect every time and is comfortable enough to wear like yoga pants. No lie! These Charlotte Olympia suede platform pumps are one of the first pair of designer shoes I ever bought myself as a reward for making the deans list in college. Can you tell my problem started there? Ha. If you’re going to spend hundreds of dollars on a pair of heels, I recommend you adore them and will plan to wear them for years to come. These still spark conversations.

I have sooo much to do before the year is up. I truly underestimated where this blog would take me when I started nine months ago, so please hold me accountable! If you haven’t already, check out the details for Macy’s Fashion’s Front Row event this Saturday and let me know if you’ll be in attendance.

Camel Crush | Style Guide

While everyone else across America was experiencing a blizzard, the weather was perfect here in the great state of Texas. So perfect that I could bare my belly but still not overheat in a coat. Specifically this wool Ralph Lauren car coat I got from Nordstrom. I’ve been trying to ween myself of wearing so much black, so the majority of my newest purchases have been neutrals. Daring right?

I rarely ever shop in stores so the first time trying most of my purchases on are after I’ve already paid for them. I purchased this camel coat in a 2P and was pleased that it fit me a bit more flattering than it did the model. I love the boxy minimalism of it that still gives stylish simplicity to any outfit, which is why I paired it with a clean collared oxford. This is my first pair of Mother Denim but it won’t be my last. They fit like a glove and don’t stretch out after being worn all day. These shoes were on backorder foreverrrrr but it seems the Louboutin website has them back in stock in every size. So if you see them in my next couple of posts, don’t say I didn’t warn you, ha!

Sidenote: here’s a cool coat guide on the differences between 6 timeless coats and why this one isn’t a peacoat.

Double Breasted Trench | Style Guide

When I was younger my Meemaw would buy my sister and me London Fog trench coats every winter so naturally, I have a keen liking for the classic touch they add to any outfit. There’s an element of sophistication that a double breasted trench in any neutral color provides to create a simple statement.

I’ve been so anxious to wear this but Houston doesn’t have much of a winter. When the temperature dropped into the 60’s, I took it as the perfect opportunity to throw this on over denim and a long sleeve ribbed crew-neck. To be honest, even if  it wouldn’t have cooled off I would’ve forced myself to thug it out in 80 degree weather. This particular oversized coat has more of a masculine cargo feel to it so I prefer it with a more casual look, as opposed to anything dainty like a dress or skirt. I can even pair it with yoga pants and running shoes if I want to fool people into thinking that I’m any type of athletic. By the way, orange + olive is forever my go-to combo.
